These were collected, as stated in the introduction, after the death of Amīr-Khān (circa 1131 A.H., 1719 C.E.), by his son Sayyid Ashraf-Khān (Mīr Muḥammad Husaynī), from the remnants left by his father.

The Psalms of David in Persian.


This manuscript is bound with a printed translation of the Psalms (Or Ms 425), that states in its preface that it has been translated from Hebrew by the missionary, Rev. Henry Martyn, based in Shiraz, with corrections made by Thomas Thomson and Mīrzā Sayyid 'Alī Shīrāzī.

Psalms of David in Persian; printed at Calcutta 1816. This is the translation into Persian of the Psalms on the basis of the Hebrew by the missionary, Rev. Henry Martyn, based in Shiraz, with corrections made by Thomas Thomson and Mīrzā Sayyid 'Alī Shīrāzī.


This printed text is bound with a different, handwritten translation of the Psalms (Or Ms 426).

A record of the movements and encampments of the Emperor ‘Ālamgīr (r. 1658 to 1707 C.E.), from the third Rabī‘ II, 1066 A.H. (1665 C.E.), to the fourth of Jumādá II, 1099 A.H. (1687 C.E.), the thirty-fourth year of his reign. Besides the places of encampment, the length of stay and the time taken to pass from one place to another are also recorded.

Scope and Contents A brief account of the rulers of A‘ẓamgaṛh by Sayyid Amīr ‘Alī Raz̤wī, who mentions several nobles of Niẓāmābād, all of whom had attained long ages, as the authority for this work. The history begins from the adventures of Abhman-Singh, son of Chandar-Sen-Rāi, of the tribe of Gūtam, who received the title of Nādir-Dawlat-Khān from the Mughal Emperor Akbar (1542-1605 C.E.), and ends with the transfer of the district in Faṣlī 1205 (1801 C.E.) by the Nawwāb Wazīr Sa‘ādat ‘Alī Khān of Awadh to...

A commentary upon the Persian version of the Qaṣīdah-i Burdah of Muḥammad b. Sa'īd al Būṣīrī (d. 694, 696, or 697 A.H., 1294, 1296, or 1297 C.E.), for which see Or Ms 45 (with which this commentary is bound). It is by Faz̤l-allāh b. Rūzbahān, better known as Khwājah Mawlānā, Isfahānī. It was compiled in 921 A.H. (1515 C.E.).


The last folio is missing, but the commentary otherwise is complete.

A compendium of medicine in verse, compiled, 990 A.H. (1582 C.E.) by Shihāb al-Dīn b. ‘Abd al- Karīm.


A Descriptive Catalogue of the Arabic and Persian Manuscripts in Edinburgh University Library by Mohammad Hukk et al. (1925) says of the dating: "about 1133 A.H. (1720 C.E.)" and that the scribe is "Chanpā, son of Aithippā'. See Or Ms 257 for further discussion of this scribe.
