Kay's plan of Edinburgh containing all improvments at present in progress as well as those in completion, 1829. Drawn and engraved by Kirkwood and Son, "Being a reduction of their large plan laid down from Actual Survey on a scale of 14 inches to the mile". Not listed in the catalogue of Geddes' "Cities and Town Planning Exhibition, 1946-48".

Scope and Contents King Stables Road and the south back of the West Port taken from Main Point, but it has proven very difficult to identify the site of the camera, and the photographer (who, in this case, labelled the negative) was (and his question mark shows that he was uncertain in this case) mistaken about the names of places. Johnstone Terrace is in the middle distance, with the south wall of the Castle Esplanade beyond. The spire is that of the former Tolbooth St. John's Church (Victoria Hall). Compare...
