Scope and Contents Photograph of Ramsay Garden taken from Princes Street. No attribution. Number on back: 115/13. Ramsay Garden Lodge and cottages were bought by Patrick Geddes in 1892. Geddes employed Henbest Capper and Sydney Mitchell to create the Ramsay Garden complex for use as student and lecturer's residences. It accommodated a large flat for himself and his family. The terrace of Ramsay Gardens, visible beyond the cottages, originally consisted of three houses built by Allan Ramsay, the painter, son of the poet, between 1760 and 1780.
