Papers relating to the administration of the Ford Foundation grant I, 1960-1972
Contains: correspondence chiefly between C.H Waddington and the Ford Foundation, Solly Zuckerman, Edward Appleton and Beatty, concerning the application process, associated equipment, salary matters and building works. Also present are typescripts of annual grant reports and details of expenditure to the Foundation.
No correspondence exists between 1960 and 1963.

The sepia-tint head and shoulders portrait photograph is mounted on buff card. There is an embossed stamp for the Photographer, Russell, [75] Baker Street, London. Because of the London-based photographer, the portrait photograph is perhaps more likely to have been taken during Holland's period of office as Rector of Imperial College, London, 1922-1929.

At end: 'The preceding catalogue was taken down by the desire of Professor Dalzel, by John Lee, M.D. November, 1801'. This may be the same John Lee who was later Principal of the university, and who was awarded his doctorate in 1801.

Warrant of King William III in favour of William Carstairs
This is a warrant signed by King William III, for a ratification and new gift of the rents and dues of the Chapel Royal in Scotland, with the Deanery, Subdeanery, etc., in favour of Mr. William Carstairs. 28 February 1693/4. Signed: "Tweeddale, Cassillis, Linlithgow, Melvill P.F., Leven, Tarbet, Beilhaven, Ad. Cockburne, J. Johnstoun, Ja. Steuart."
