Note about a quarry on Tarasaigh/Taransay which reads 'Near Uamh Mhic Cailein [possibly Uamh Mhic Ailein] is a quarry of flags as fine as any of the Caithness flags. It c[o]u[l]d be worked to advantage. Flags were taken from here to Fincastle.'

Note about a ridge and boulders near Lonan [Lonain, Earra Ghàidheal/Argyllshire] including 'Lairig a fheoi' which is 'wher[e] Lonan begins at Barra Goillean [Barguillean]' and 'Ugh a gheoi' described as 'a boulder now'. Also noted are black stones in 'amair na h-aibhne' [the river bed] and on the side of the river at Clacha Dubha [Clachadow].

Note about a stone belonging to Angus Macinns [MacInnes], piper to James Stewart, esquire, of Fasnacloich [Earra Ghàidheal/Argyllshire] and his wife Ann Stewart. The note states that the piper was at Culloden.
Note about archaeological finds at Dun chrubain, September 1870
Note collected from John Black, aged eighty-six, Killean, Lios Mòr/Lismore, Earra Ghàidheal/Argyllshire about archaeological finds at Dun chrubain [Dùn hrùban] including a bone ring, three inches in diameter, a sword head and animal teeth. Black states that he and his brother cleared out the rubbish and found nine fireplaces inside. The description of the fireplaces is unclear.

Note about Mol-garbh [Mol Garbh, Tarasaigh/Taransay] describing it as a 'remarkable inst[ance] of the pow[er] of the waves in heap[ing] up a beach' and comparing the height of the beach with the mol on the isthmus.
