The article concerns the work of the Pasteur Institute in resaerching cures for diseases such as tuberculosis and polio in humans, along with a host of diseases in animals.

"Alternatives to Vivisection", written by Colin Smith, offers suggestions for alternatives to animal testing and vivisection in the field of medicine. Smith argues that although vivisection has helped our understanding of medicine in the past, there are plenty of alternatives to animal testing.

Scope and Contents Copies of "The Medical Review", (formerly The Prescriber) and "Medyckal Tidyngs", a satirical supplement to "Medical News", December 22-29, 1967. The Medical Review was editied by James Burnet and was published in Edinburgh from 3 Howe Street. The review contains articles and avertisements relating to medical treatment and opinion on topics such as cancer, respiratory diseases, cardiology, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, industrial diseases, urology, and gastro-intestinal diseases....

These pamphlets contain the opinions of medical professionals who are against vivisection.

On the pamphlets, it states the British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection, 47 Whitehall, London, however the original print has been crossed out and replaced with "issued by the Scottish Society for the Prevention of Vivisection"

"The Alternative to Vivisection" was a pamphlet written by M Beddow Bayley, which contains quotations from medical professionals stating their opinion on the lack of use for vivisection in the medical field.

The pamphlet was first published by the SSPV in 1960 and withdrawn May, 1969.

A print out of a lecture, given by B.P. Allison, M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P, given under the auspices of the Health Education and Research Council, London, under the title "Unnecessary Operations".

The lecture investigates alternatives to invasive surgery, particularly focussing on the diseases of the ear, nose and throat.
