Miscellaneous printed items, 18th and 19th centuries
Scope and Contents
There are miscellaneous printed booklets, some unbound, and some pages may have been separated from their original booklet. There appear to be five distinct booklets:
1. A translation to Gaelic of Joseph Alleine's religious work 'An alarm to the Unconverted', originally published in 1672. This translation is titled 'Earail dhurachdach do pheacaidh neo-iopmaichte', translated by I. Smith, and published in 1839.
2. A translation to Gaelic of the sermon 'True Riches'. This translation is titled 'An saibhreas fior, and appears to have been published in 1860 by the London Religious Tract Society.
3. A translation to Gaelic fo the sermon 'The blood of Christ: The only effectual cure'. This translation is titled 'Fuil Chriosd, an aon chungaidh leigheis eifeachdach airson cogais chionntach a ghlanadh, and appears to have been published in 1815 by the Edinburgh Religious Tract Society.
4. A copy of the pamphlet 'Professor Campbell's Further explications with Cespect to some articles of the former charge, wherein the Religious committee for Purity of Doctrine have declar'd themselves not satsify'd'. Written by Archibald Campbell, published in Edinburgh, 1736.
5. A translation to Gaelic of one of Philip Doddridge's sermon. The title of the sermon is translated to Gaelic as 'Mu obair an Spioraid Naoimh, and was ublished by the London Religious Tract Society (no date).
6. Pages separated from their original book, which appear to be a proof copy of the treatise or work titled ''De concilio Hibernie per magnates totius illius Insule', The Miscellany of the Irish Archaeological Society', by Richard Butler, published in 1846. There are added editorial annotations made by hand by unknown.
