Song entitled 'Laoidh a Choin Duibh' collected from Donull Camashron [Donald Cameron], Coille-odhar, Clac-Sgiath on 18 December 1861. The song begins 'La dhuinn a bhith sa bheinn sheilg, Bainnig leinn a bhith gun choin'. The song is composed of sixty-two lines. The song tells how a man came with a black dog called For and killed one hundred and fifty of Fionn's dogs. In response, Fionn unleashed his prize dog, Bran, which killed For. The text has two annotations in different inks.

Story about a drowned puppy, 24 June 1887

Story about a drowned puppy collected from John MacAulay from Gearrloch [Geàrrloch/Gairloch, Ros is Cromba/Ross and Cromarty] but living in Edinburgh [Dùn Èideann]. The story tells how boys used to make ceallagan [strings of hooks] for fishermen. One boy drowned a puppy and the next morning a trosg [cod] was caught on his ceallag [string of hooks] and when it was opened up the drowned puppy was found inside it. Text has been scored through as if transcribed elsewhere.

A man by the name of MacPhie, who lived in Benbecula had a dog which was very large but never barked and which brought him renown as 'MacPhie a choin duigh' [MacPhee of the black dog]. He and twelve cousins went to build a sheiling on Staireval [Stiaraval] and when they were finished and each lying in their beds 'each said that he wished he had now his leannan with him...
